The Mess

To commemorate the birthday of my good pal and long-time friend, Mike ‘The Mess’ Young, I have compiled a list of the great eighties/nineties movies which we watched as youngsters as well as our top CDs of that era. Mike was born in the year of Our Lord 1984, and after a happy childhood in the village of Timsbury (on the outskirts of Bath), and after embarking on an epic round the World tour (To Look At Them Is To Love Them) with me and some mates, he moved to Manchester where he studied Mechanical Engineering, and now resides in Bristol with his sweet lady Ali. Mike is a music enthusiast who played guitar in Bath duo Dionysus, and then went on to play bass for Bristol-based Caves (http://thismusicismylife.blogspot.com/2010/02/caves-band-of-week.html) although he is no longer playing with them. It is said that he single-handedly kept Auckland-based record store Real Groovy in business during his three week tenure in a shabby hostel two doors away. He manages to squeeze a lot of bits in pieces in between, including an annual Stairway to Devon, ticketing for UK festivals such as Global Gathering,  dabbling in the odd bit of graffiti, and off course checking out live music from the grimy halls and flea-pit pubs of Bristol to the murky venues of Brixton and Camden. Salud mon ami!
