Sci-fi Wunderkind J.J. Abrams Will Direct Disney's Star Was Episode VII
So! After the news in October 2012
that Disney was buying out Lucasfilm for $4bn, a lot of speculation has been
doing the rumour mill as to which director will be on board to reboot the squillion-dollar Star Wars franchise. Although people
like Steven Spielberg, Ben Affleck, and Chris Nolan were speculated, it’s
been announced at The Wrap and EMPIRE that JJ Abrams has signed on to direct
Star Wars Episode VII. Given his film credentials with rebooting the Star Trek franchise to huge success, as
well as his dally with seventies monster-invasion pic Super 8, it seems like a wise choice. Episode VII is slated for a
2015 release, so expect tidbits about plot or casting to start seeping through.
